Habit Appliances are used to aid in the elimination of myofunctional habits such as tongue thrusting, abnormal swallowing and thumb sucking. If left untreated these various patient habits can lead to extensive orthodontic treatment.
The Galella Habit appliance is primarily used to correct aberrant tongue habits, however, a secondary function of the appliance is to deter thumb sucking. The appliance is designed to be physiologically congruent with normal tongue function and is a simple appliance consisting only of a large coffin loop and a lingual arch wire that supports a habit bead.
These examples represent many of the most common appliances requested. However, we can custom design any appliance to your personal specifications with the quality and consistency you expect from your laboratory partner. For more information, Contact Us!
